A History of Our Church

Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, established in 1860, has deep historical roots supported by families such as the Jones, Baldwin, Butler, and others. The church began with a modest wooden structure and traditions like ringing of a farm bell and communal oil lamp lighting.

Communion Sundays were significant gatherings, where members participate in a tradition known as the poor's collection. The legacy of these early families and their contributions continues to shape Mount Olive's community and heritage.

Over more than 160 years, Mount Olive has stood as a pillar of faith and fellowship in Fayetteville, NC — nurturing generations of families and serving the broader community with love and purpose.
